Job summary

Thompson Machinery in Tennessee seeks a Rental Field Service Mentor to diagnose, service, repair, and maintain Caterpillar rental equipment in the field. You will provide hands-on mentoring to newer technicians while handling a personal field service workload.

Responsibilities include advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, and equipment preparation, with emphasis on safety, quality, and customer service. The role requires the ability to travel across the territory and work flexible hours as

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; diesel technology training preferred.
Seven or more years diagnosing, repairing, and servicing heavy construction and earthmoving equipment preferred.
Caterpillar equipment experience strongly preferred.
Candidates with strong advanced diesel, hydraulic, electrical, and diagnostic experience who can mentor will be considered.

Responsibilities

Diagnose, troubleshoot, service, and repair Caterpillar rental equipment at customer and company locations.
Provide technical guidance, hands-on instruction, and mentoring to newer technicians.
Evaluate and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems.
Research Caterpillar service information, schematics, and diagnostic information to determine repairs.
Assist developing technicians with troubleshooting and diagnostics and provide feedback on trainee progress.
