Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• CPCU, AIC, SCLA and other designations are a plus.
• Six years of experience handling premises liability claims.
• Advanced knowledge of NY Labor Law is essential.
• Five years of experience managing labor law claims is preferred.
• Experience with complex claims (e.g., wrongful death, mold, drownings, negligent security).
• Ability to direct defense counsel and think independently is crucial.
• Familiarity with ImageRight and Guidewire is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage a custom claims book from start to finish and select accounts accordingly.
• Review and verify coverage, issue timely coverage position letters, and coordinate with defense counsel.
• Direct the defense and oversee discovery; maintain thorough file notes and diary system.
• Engage with insured parties and brokers as needed during claim handling.
• Set reserves promptly and negotiate fair settlements; ensure reserves and expense controls.
