Job summary

Hire Counsel is seeking a claims professional in New York to oversee outside counsel handling premises liability and motor vehicle matters, for a 3-12 month assignment. The role can be filled by a claims attorney or a claims adjuster, with a preference for a New York-licensed attorney.

Qualifications

• Candidates must have significant experience independently managing a high volume of general litigation cases and developing and reviewing defensive case strategy.
• Strong communication skills are essential for coordinating with outside counsel and investigators.
• Good understanding of reserve setting with experience valuing cases in New York.
• Ability to review motions and comment on them.
• Capacity to draft settlement requests and perform case reviews.
• Familiarity with case management software, Outlook and Excel is required; New York licensure is required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee outside counsel handling 100+ cases, manage diary of case updates, and communicate with outside counsel and internal investigators.
• Assist in developing case strategy and make recommendations on settlements and investigations.
• Enter notes into the case management system and update case files; review submitted bills and prepare settlement requests.
• Make recommendations on reserves and review motions and mediation statements.
• Collaborate with other members of the outside counsel management team.
