Job summary

Berkley North Pacific is seeking a Claims Technical Consultant to resolve highly complex commercial casualty claims and provide technical leadership within the claims organization. The person will examine policies, gather facts, analyze law, and coordinate with experts and outside counsel.

The role requires extensive experience in casualty claims, strong negotiation and analytical skills, and the ability to mentor staff while supporting profitable growth.

Qualifications

• Verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Ability to analyze contracts and legal documents and take positions on claim issues.
• Advanced insurance coverage evaluation skills are required.
• Experience with managing litigation and coordinating outside counsel.

Responsibilities

• Resolve highly complex commercial casualty claims at high authority levels.
• Lead technical aspects and provide mentoring to claims staff.
• Investigate losses, gather and review reports, and determine coverage.
• Manage litigation plans, budgets, and coordination of defense activities.
• Collaborate on subrogation, arbitration, and salvage recovery.
• Enter data accurately into claim systems for reporting.
