Job summary

Urban Resource Institute (URI) is seeking a Case Manager Supervisor for Homeless Families in New York. The Senior Case Manager will oversee direct service provision to residents and supervise staff, including counseling, advocacy, budgeting, and linkages to housing resources.

The role involves coordinating with DHS/HRA, maintaining a caseload of 20–25 families, and ensuring clients access public assistance and Medicaid.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services is required.
• At least 3 years of crisis counseling experience in a residential shelter is preferred.
• Experience in assessing vocational/educational needs and helping clients obtain benefits.
• Experience with supportive group facilitation.
• Sensitivity to homelessness and work with disenfranchised communities.
• Familiarity with DHS regulations and DHS Cares Reporting.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to document case work.

Responsibilities

• Maintain caseload of 20-25 families.
• Conduct intake interviews and assess admissions.
• Engage residents through individual and group counseling under supervision.
• Develop housing referrals and assist securing permanent housing.
• Coordinate referrals to aftercare services and community resources.
• Assist residents with public assistance and Medicaid applications.
• Serve as liaison with DHS, HRA and related agencies; document case notes.
• Provide weekly supervision to assigned staff and participate in trainings.
• Coordinate on-site/off-site services such as child care and therapy.
