Job summary

Urban Resource Institute (URI) seeks a Case Manager to provide direct services to residents in New York City shelters. You will conduct intake, offer individual and group counseling, and connect residents with housing, benefits, and aftercare services under clinical supervision.

The role requires sensitivity to homelessness, strong advocacy, and ability to liaise with DHS, HRA, and Medicaid offices. A Bachelor's in Human Services is required.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of counseling experience, preferred, in a residential shelter.
• Three (3) years of crisis counseling experience preferred in a residential shelter for homeless individuals and/or families.
• Experience with assessing vocational and educational needs and benefits acquisition.

Responsibilities

• Maintain caseload of 25-30 families.
• Conduct intake interviews to assess admission using DHS CARES system.
• Engage residents in individual and group counseling under supervision.
• Develop and monitor independent living plans biweekly in DHS CARES.
• Assist residents in securing permanent housing with Housing Specialist.
• Coordinate referrals to community resources including Medicaid and public assistance.
• Develop goals with residents and document progress and outcomes.
