Job summary

Nokia is seeking a System Design Engineer to analyze carrier networks and craft optimized solutions. You will work with Marketing, PLM, Sales, Optical, and Software teams to ensure effective network design and deployment, supporting RFP/RFQ responses and field activities.

The role emphasizes providing SME guidance for planning, researching technical specs, and evaluating vendor options, with a focus on cutting-edge optical and transport technologies.

Qualifications

• Requires a Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics; PhD preferred.
• 5+ years in engineering, with 3+ years in 3rd party network design or optimization tools.
• Strong knowledge of carrier-class networking architectures (WDM, IP/MPLS/GMPLS/Ethernet).
• Experience in sales engineering or product management is essential.
• Proficiency in scripting with Excel, Matlab, Python, or similar tools.

Responsibilities

• Support RFP/RFQ network design responses and optimization.
• Act as SME for field network planning and deployment guidance.
• Develop technical specifications and evaluate vendor options.
• Design optimal network architectures for new products and platforms.
• Create tools to empower sales engineers in network design.
