Job summary

Great Falls Construction in Gorham, ME is seeking skilled Carpenters with 5+ years of experience to join our growing team. You will read plans, lay out work, and perform quality carpentry with limited supervision on commercial and residential projects.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on carpentry experience required.
  • Independently perform framing, layout, finish work, and general carpentry tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, and specifications.
  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
  • Access to personally owned carpentry tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
  • Ability to mentor and support carpenter apprentices.
  • Working knowledge of arithmetic, geometry, and measurement calculations used in construction.
  • Results-oriented with a strong work ethic and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently and up to 100 pounds with assistance devices or team lifting methods.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all company safety policies and comply with federal, state, local, and client-specific safety requirements.
  • Study blueprints, sketches, and project plans to determine layouts, dimensions, and material requirements.
  • Measure, mark, cut, shape, and assemble materials using appropriate hand and power tools.
  • Install structures and fixtures, including framing, windows, doors, flooring, trim, and hardware.
  • Verify the accuracy and alignment of structures using levels and other measuring tools.
  • Erect and work from ladders, scaffolding, and other elevated work platforms as needed.
  • Anchor, brace, and secure forms and structures using appropriate construction methods and materials.
  • Assemble and fasten materials to construct frameworks, supports, and finished assemblies.
  • Repair, replace, or remove damaged structures and components.
  • Install rough door and window frames, subflooring, fixtures, and temporary supports.
  • Mentor and support carpenter apprentices by sharing knowledge, coaching best practices, and promoting safe work habits.
  • Communicate professionally with supervisors, subcontractors, clients, and fellow team members.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe worksite.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support business and project needs.
