Job summary

SER Metro-Detroit in Highland Park, MI is seeking a Lead Career Coach (PATH) to supervise PATH activities and provide program assistance to eligible customers.

You will interview and train staff, supervise in the manager's absence, and ensure records and service plans comply with funding requirements. This exempt role requires a four-year degree and strong knowledge of community resources and MIS systems.

Qualifications

• Experience in social work, counseling, career planning, placement, or related field.
• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in social work or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in WIOA, TANF, and employment and training program operations preferred.
• Knowledge of community resources; case management principles, objectives, standards, and methods; and of program policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of MIS and other reporting systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).
• Ability to make frequent visits to customers’ homes and training providers’ sites.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, administration, and other employees verbally and in writing.
• Must possess and provide a valid Michigan Driver's License and be willing to work a flexible schedule.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to the mission of SER Metro-Detroit.
• Assists the Center Manager in interviewing, hiring, and training Career Services staff.
• In the Manager’s absence, supervises Center staff and addresses all customer concerns.
• Provides technical support in customer assessment, eligibility, supportive services, and strategies addressing barriers to employment.
• Ensures service plans are implemented effectively and in line with policies and regulations.
• Identifies problem areas and service gaps and recommends action plans.
• Reports progress and concerns to the supervisor and manages program goals with funding requirements.
• Meets with staff regularly to discuss participant progress and issues.
• Maintains accurate client records electronically and in print in a secure location.
