This position supports the Occupational Therapist in restoring or maintaining patient function, participates in patient care conferences, and ensures compliance with infection control and patient rights. Competitive pay with a benefits package accompanies the role.

Qualifications

• Must graduate from an accredited Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant program.
• Must be licensed to practice as an Occupational Therapist Assistant in the State of Kansas.
• Fluent understanding of English and good communications skills.
• Previous experience working with the elderly is preferred.
• Empathetic approach to the elderly and ability to work in a team setting with residents and staff.

Responsibilities

• Record treatments administered in patients’ medical records and department billing records according to procedures.
• Instruct patients, family, and staff in maintenance programs as directed by the Occupational Therapist.
• Attend and participate in patient care conferences and rehabilitation department meetings.
• Maintain professional competency through in-service trainings and educational materials.
• Protect patients and staff by adhering to infection control procedures at all times.
• Ensure services are provided in accordance with guidelines and standards of practice.
• Develop and maintain good working rapport with inter-department personnel to support Therapy Services.
• Respect residents’ rights to fair and equitable treatment and privacy.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• May assist in transferring patients weighing up to 250 lbs.
