Job summary

The Avamere at The Stafford in Lake Oswego, OR, is seeking a part-time Medication Tech for Sundays 6am-2pm. You will administer medications under RN supervision and provide direct care to residents in a memory care/assisted living setting.

Prior caregiver or medication tech experience in memory care is preferred. Responsibilities include accurate medication administration, EMR documentation, monitoring for side effects, and collaboration with nursing staff, families, and physicians.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Caregiver and Medication Tech in a Memory Care Unit or Assisted Living Facility.
• Must be able to obtain CPR/First Aid Certification during employment.
• Must be able to obtain a Food Handler’s Card.
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records documentation.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Friendly, attentive, and professional demeanor with residents and guests.
• Desire to improve quality of life for seniors.
• Create an atmosphere of warmth, patience, enthusiasm, and a calm environment.

Responsibilities

• Pass medications according to physician orders under supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Administer medications accurately and timely.
• Record medications administered in the resident’s records.
• Notify pharmacy or family when medications need refilling.
• Maintain a clean and organized medication cart/room.
• Monitor and report medication side effects to Health Services.
• Document changes in residents’ status in the EMR.
• Follow care plans for medication administration.
• Assist with medical appointments and communicate with providers.
• Observe residents for health changes and report concerns to medical staff.
• Complete incident/accident reports promptly; follow policy.
• Perform delegated nursing tasks as assigned by the RN.
• Participate in in-service education.
• Report changes to the Director of Health Services.
• Maintain safety of residents and confidentiality.
• Collaborate with residents, nursing staff, physicians, families, and other providers.
• Assist new employees with facility policies and procedures.
