Job summary

UCI Health is seeking a senior surgical physician assistant for the Cardiovascular Institute. You will work closely with cardiac surgeons to perform endoscopic vein harvesting, assist in complex cardiac procedures, and support ECMO and ICU care.

The role includes inpatient rounds, discharge coordination, and ongoing skill development under cardiac surgeons’ guidance. Requires CA PA license, NCCPA, BLS/ACLS, NPI/DEA, and 5+ years in cardiothoracic surgery.

Qualifications

• CA State PA license active and unrestricted
• NCCPA certification at time of hire and maintained
• Current BLS and ACLS
• NPI and DEA numbers required

Responsibilities

• Perform endoscopic vein harvesting and assist in cardiac surgeries
• Advise on large vessel exposure and ECMO cannulation
• Provide inpatient floor management and daily rounds for cardiac patients
• Coordinate discharge planning and multidisciplinary care
• Maintain operative involvement while supporting ICU and floor services
