Job summary

Humana is seeking a skilled Cardiac Sonographer to perform echo procedures and monitor exams. You will calculate, measure, and document test results for review by providers, collaborating with physicians, cardiologists, and nurses to address changes in patient conditions while undergoing echocardiography.

The role requires strong clinical judgment, technical expertise, and commitment to professional ethics. You will report to the Center Administrator and maintain ARDMS/CCI certifications and BLS.

Qualifications

• Current certification as a Sonographer/Ultrasound Technician is required.
• Certification in Echocardiography through ARDMS or CCI is required.
• Completion of an accredited Ultrasound Technology program is required.
• Demonstrated experience performing vascular studies is required.
• At least 1 year of experience in a diagnostic facility or hospital is required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• TB screening required upon selection.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality 2D echocardiograms with color flow Doppler within a 45-minute timeframe.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, cardiologists, nurses, sonographers, and other healthcare professionals.
• Conduct patient assessments and explain procedures with professionalism and empathy.
• Apply cognitive skills to identify normal vs. pathological findings during exams.
• Maintain infection control and standard precautions; prepare exam rooms and verify patient identity.
• Evaluate requisitions to ensure proper patient preparation and procedural accuracy.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to privacy regulations.
• Maintain ARDMS/CCI certifications and BLS.
• Coordinate schedules to ensure efficient workflow and coverage.
• Provide in-service education to staff.
