Job summary

Harvard Medical School’s Campus Planning and Facilities is seeking a dedicated Project Manager to lead design, bid, construction, and turnover of campus projects. You will coordinate with stakeholders, manage budgets, schedules, and scopes, and oversee bids and approvals to ensure successful project delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, building technology or related discipline.
• A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in a University / Academic or large institutional setting preferred.
• Experience with lab building construction and renovations and coordination of utility/structural impacts.

Responsibilities

• Communicate to department leadership issues impacting scope, schedule, or budget. Lead project team to identify, evaluate, and recommend solutions to mitigate impacts.
• Work in a cross-functional capacity with the Planning Department to support early project phases, including Initiation and Planning; gather input from stakeholders.
• Develop project scope, schedule and budget using estimating tools and trusted partners; manage changes.
• Oversee budget management and recording; assess cost/schedule impact of changes to scope.
• Take action to keep the project on schedule and on budget.
• Spearhead the RFP process for architect and construction manager selections; lead site visits and interviews.
• Prepare and submit reports to Capital Planning and project review committees when required.
• Review proposals and award contracts to qualified contractors; evaluate design options.
• Coordinate permits and approvals across local, state, university, and other authorities.
• Ensure project goals are realized through the design and construction phases; manage closeout documentation and commissioning.
