Job summary

Anne Arundel County – Public Works Department seeks a supervisory professional engineer to lead capital projects across parks, facilities, and transportation. You will plan, coordinate, and oversee design, construction, and inspections while ensuring schedules, budgets, and quality standards are met.

You will supervise engineers and staff, liaise with county officials and external partners, and drive process improvements in capital delivery and standards compliance.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of capital project management including managing consultant performance, contract requirements, procurement, regulations and cost estimation techniques.
• Extensive knowledge of engineering principles and local, state, and federal design standards and project permitting.
• Extensive knowledge of construction methods, easement negotiations, project team communications, and interacting with officials and private sector representatives.
• Strong ability to interpret and prepare technical designs, specifications, and reports.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and oversee the work and activities of capital projects involving engineering and utility review for parks, facilities, and transportation projects.
• Maintain frequent contacts with engineers, architects, firms, and agencies to ensure contract requirements and schedules are met.
• Provide oversight of project designs and specifications; review and approve changes, modifications, and additions.
• Oversee inspection of construction through all phases; guide changes to improve efficiency and maintain quality.
• Establish dashboards and KPIs to monitor progress, budgets, and performance of capital programs.
