Job summary

Genentech, Inc. in South San Francisco, CA seeks an Upper Campus Plant Engineer to provide strategic engineering solutions for complex equipment and critical utility infrastructure.

The role involves lifecycle management, FMEA, risk assessments, and maintenance strategy development to meet KPI targets. Responsibilities include collaborating with Site Services, SSHE, Design & Construction, and Real Estate/WE to ensure regulatory adherence, 100% FDA/ISO compliance, and data-driven performance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, Chemical, Industrial, or a related field.
• 4 years of experience as Facilities Engineer, Validation Engineer, or closely related position.
• GMP/non-GMP maintenance operations, document control, processing, and repair.
• Experience with SAP, Veeva CMMS, automation & industrial controls (EMS), and building automation systems (Siemens Desigo, ALC).
• Ability to read as-built drawings and understand architectural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
• FMEA and Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) to mitigate operational risks.
• FDA and ISO regulatory compliance experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic long-term engineering solutions and advanced troubleshooting for complex equipment and critical utility infrastructure.
• Direct asset lifecycle management by authoring and approving engineering documentation, FMEA, and risk/criticality assessments.
• Define and certify maintenance strategies and spare parts programs to ensure optimal equipment performance and KPI achievement.
• Develop data-driven dashboards and reliability-centered maintenance models to monitor asset lifecycle and performance.
• Audit technical processes and documentation to ensure 100% compliance with FDA and ISO standards.
• Collaborate with Site Services, SSHE, Design & Construction, and RE/WE to guide complex facility operations and regulatory adherence.
