Job summary

General Motors seeks a Senior Calibration Engineer for the AV Fleet Data Engineering team to drive calibration, integration, validation, and deployment of data recording solutions across vehicle programs and software platforms.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in engineering with automotive software integration, calibration, validation, or data‑collection systems.

The Role

The AV Fleet Data Engineering team is responsible for the design, requirements, integration, validation, and execution of E2E AV/ADAS data needs. As a Senior Calibration Engineer, you will provide technical leadership for the calibration, integration, validation, and deployment of production-level data recording solutions across vehicle programs and software platforms. This role will lead hands‑on engineering activities across vehicles, benches, simulation environments, and connected fleet test campaigns. The engineer will work closely with software, systems, platform, quality, data engineering, and ADAS feature teams to ensure data recording configurations are accurate, reliable, scalable, and capable of supporting product development, fleet monitoring, machine‑learning data collection, regulatory needs, and customer‑driven product improvements.

What You'll Do

• Own calibration strategy, configuration development, and calibration deliverables for ADAS data recording and retail AV data collection programs.
• Lead integration of data recording software, applications, and configuration files into vehicles, benches, SoC platforms, and simulation environments.
• Lead calibration and integration activities for new software releases, including configuration creation, test execution, deployment, and release readiness.
• Plan and execute formal end‑to‑end validation, including test‑plan development, test‑case updates, formal test execution, defect documentation, and validation reporting.
• Lead data‑collection campaigns by defining configurations, deploying them to target fleets, monitoring recording performance, analyzing campaign metrics, and supporting controlled rollouts.
• Lead issue triage from initial symptom through root‑cause identification, corrective action, verification, and communication to software and platform teams.
• Establish monitoring and alerting methods for connected test fleets and use data‑driven analysis to identify issues before they affect downstream users.
• Mentor and support calibration engineers and partner teams through technical guidance, documentation, training, and knowledge‑sharing.
• Support vehicle proliferation, regional‑calibration, software‑release, and production‑deployment activities as required.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

• 5+ years of engineering experience, including experience with automotive software integration, calibration, validation, or data‑collection systems.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience leading complex cross‑functional engineering activities.
• Strong understanding of vehicle electrical and software systems, embedded applications, data pipelines, and system integration.
• Experience developing and deploying production‑level calibrations or configuration files across multiple vehicle programs or software releases.
• Strong analytical ability and demonstrated success solving unusual or complex technical problems.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical issues to both engineering and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Ability to mentor engineers and influence technical decisions across organizational boundaries.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, shell scripting, or test‑automation frameworks.
• Experience using Grafana or similar tools for dashboard development, monitoring, and alerting.
• Experience with CAN, LIN, GMLAN, FlexRay, Ethernet, and other vehicle communication protocols.
• Experience working in QNX, Linux, Azure, or other embedded/cloud environments.
• DFSS Green Belt or Black Belt certification.

*This position requires the ability to legally operate a motor vehicle on a regular basis.

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location at least 3 times a week {or other frequency dictated by their manager}. Relocation benefits are available for candidates who qualify under company policy. This position requires the ability to legally operate a motor vehicle on a regular basis and successfully complete a Motor Vehicle Report review.
