Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior Software Test Engineer to lead automation for vehicle-based and cloud-connected data collection systems, supporting ADAS/AV programs and RADC/ASDR stacks.

You will own validation planning, CI/CD pipelines (Autobot, Jenkins) and bench readiness, collaborating with SW and platform teams to ensure robust data quality and performance.

This hybrid role reports to Milford Proving Ground, MI, with emphasis on automation, testing, and cross-team leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer/Software Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of engineering/technical experience.
• Hands-on experience with on-vehicle or bench and interpreting logs and metrics.
• Proficiency in scripting/automation (Python, Robot Framework, or similar) for test authoring, data analysis, and tooling glue code.

Responsibilities

• Own RADC validation for key programs including test planning, execution (bench and vehicle), and defect triage for data recording behavior.
• Develop, maintain, and extend RADC CI/CD and validation automation (Autobot, ATP/Jenkins), including reusable pipelines, scripts, and AI-assisted workflows to accelerate test authoring, log triage, and report generation.
• Lead CI/CD bench readiness for RADC benches: ensure hardware and software baselines are aligned with target configurations, flashing flows are automated and reliable, and benches are continuously available for automated regression and feature validation.
• Design and execute performance and quality benchmarks for VTM tasks, including test definition, drive/bench execution, and analysis of upload latency, completeness, and data integrity.
• Set up and maintain RADC benches, including ECU wiring, power supply and relay integration, Autobot keyword integration, and ensuring the bench is representative of fleet configurations for test campaigns.
• Integrate new camera and consent features into benches and test plans, including Autobot/Robot test development and Confluence/Jira documentation of procedures.
• Author and maintain technical documentation and training content to scale data-recording validation across teams and programs.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to align validation priorities, communicate risk, and drive closure on complex multi-team issues.

Senior Software Test Engineer – Retail Data Hybrid

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Milford Proving Ground in Milford, MI three times per week, at minimum. The role help shape the future of transportation at GM. The AV Fleet Data Engineering Team is responsible for defining, integrating, and validating Retail AV Data Collection pipelines that power automated driving development at scale. We are seeking a Senior Software Test Engineer to lead automation and execution of vehicle-based and cloud‑connected data collection systems. The Senior Software Test Engineer is responsible for building and executing validation strategies for GM’s on-vehicle and bench-based data recording stack (RADC and ASDR), with a focus on automated test development, CI/CD, and end-to-end data quality and performance benchmarking. The role spans bench and vehicle integration, OTA release validation, and deep data analysis, leveraging AI agents and automation tooling to streamline workflows and reduce manual effort. The engineer works closely with SW and platform teams to ensure robust, scalable data collection in support of current and future ADAS/AV programs.

What You’ll Do

• Own RADC validation for key programs including test planning, execution (bench and vehicle), and defect triage for data recording behavior.
• Develop, maintain, and extend RADC CI/CD and validation automation (Autobot, ATP/Jenkins), including reusable pipelines, scripts, and AI‑assisted workflows to accelerate test authoring, log triage, and report generation.
• Lead CI/CD bench readiness for RADC benches: ensure hardware and software baselines are aligned with target configurations, flashing flows are automated and reliable, and benches are continuously available for automated regression and feature validation.
• Design and execute performance and quality benchmarks for VTM tasks (e.g., 1411 HoLCA and 1414 SC OpStats), including test definition, drive/bench execution, and analysis of upload latency, completeness, and data integrity.
• Set up and maintain RADC benches, including ECU wiring, power supply and relay integration, Autobot keyword integration, and ensuring the bench is representative of fleet configurations for test campaigns.
• Integrate new camera and consent features into benches and test plans, including Autobot/Robot test development and Confluence/Jira documentation of procedures.
• Author and maintain technical documentation and training content (bench setup guides, test repositories, SDV2 execution planning notes, Xray repository structure) to scale data‑recording validation across teams and programs.
• Collaborate closely with cross‑functional partners to align validation priorities, communicate risk, and drive closure on complex multi‑team issues.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer/Software Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of engineering/technical experience.
• Hands‑on experience with on‑vehicle or bench and interpreting associated logs and metrics.
• Proficiency in scripting/automation (Python, Robot Framework, or similar) for test authoring, data analysis, and tooling glue code.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

• Experience with CI/CD and test automation frameworks (e.g., Jenkins/ATP, Autobot, Xray) and maintaining bench environments as CI/CD targets (agent setup, flashing automation, health checks, monitoring).
• Demonstrated ability to debug complex, cross‑component issues (signals, consent, memory, OTA, deployment) and drive them to resolution across multiple teams.
• Familiarity with Azure‑hosted data lakes, Centra dashboards, and Elastic/Xray‑based analysis for large‑scale data quality and performance evaluation.
• Experience applying AI agents and LLM‑based tools to engineering workflows (e.g., log summarization, test‑case generation, documentation, pipeline or config generation), with a bias toward measurable automation and efficiency gains.
• Proven experience training or mentoring others on tools, processes, or architecture (e.g., running internal trainings, authoring how‑to guides, leading forums).
• Demonstrated orientation toward continuous improvement and technical leadership, including identifying process gaps and driving automation/efficiency initiatives.
