Job description

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for a Survey Field Coordinator position in our Latham, NY office. The role involves performing survey work related to topographic and boundary surveying, construction staking, structure monitoring, and other surveying applications to support land surveying, civil engineering, architectural, and environmental projects. The position requires working under the supervision of Licensed Professional Surveyors.

Responsibilities:

1. This is primarily an office-based role with field assignments as necessary.
2. Ensure data quality in the office; perform accurate calculations to complete surveys.
3. Analyze data reduction, computations, and mapping.
4. Oversee the preparation of CAD documents, ensuring quality and consistency.
5. Conduct records research, drafting, and technical report writing and review.
6. Assist in preparing cost estimates and proposals.
7. Coordinate work schedules for office staff.
8. Lead and supervise office staff to meet client and project goals.
9. Train and mentor junior staff.
10. Coordinate with department managers and project teams to align project goals.
11. Maintain calibration logs for survey equipment.
12. Stay updated with technological advancements in surveying equipment and software.
13. Operate advanced survey technology including GPS, robotic total stations, UAVs, and high-definition scanners.
14. Follow safety practices for land surveying.
15. Build and maintain client relationships.

Minimum Requirements:

• At least ten years of experience with various CAD platforms.
• Experience as a Survey Crew Chief; licensing as Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) and future licensure as a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with surveying equipment and software such as Trimble, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, Carlson, and Inroads is advantageous.
• Ability to interpret design and construction plans.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in teams.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate company vehicles.
• Willingness to work overtime as needed.
