What We're Looking For

The time is right to join HNTB’s growing Design Build (DB) Organization! We are seeking candidates for a Design Build Senior CAD Technician for fast-paced transportation infrastructure projects.

Candidate shall have experience with software including Open Roads Designer, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D, with abilities to create precise and detailed drawings, communicate effectively, and manage their own workload.

This opportunity involves performing non-routine and complex assignments at an advanced proficiency level, including planning and conducting complete projects of varied scope. It includes assisting the project management team in outlining objectives, requirements, and design approaches, and gathering engineering or operational data from various sources.

What You’ll Do:

1. Verify the accuracy of drawings, ensure compatibility across disciplines, and check detail and quantity calculations. Calculate design data, prepare layouts, detailed specifications, estimates, and reports.
2. Assist in preparing engineering studies and evaluations from initial concept to design, with support from the project engineer/architect.
3. Attend project and pre-construction meetings and provide input to ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and specifications.
4. Resolve technical design problems, which may include field investigations, detailed design work, and data analysis.
5. Maintain complex project plans, develop documentation, prepare project management reports, and monitor progress toward goals.
6. Recommend process improvements for project delivery at the office level.
7. Perform engineering-related computations and calculate quantities.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology or related field with 6 years of relevant experience, or
• Associate of Science in Drafting or Technical School or related with 8 years of relevant experience, or
• In lieu of education, 10 years of relevant experience.

What You'll Bring:

• Ability to work effectively and build relationships with clients and subcontractors.
• Proficiency in CADD design software such as GIS, 3D, Highway or Railroad design, Building design, and Graphic Imaging.
• Knowledge of survey notes, plans, shop drawings, aerial photographs, and maps related to specific engineering sub-types.

What We Prefer:

• Experience with Open Roads Designer, MicroStation CONNECT, MicroStation V8i, AutoCAD, Civil3D.

The approximate pay range for Los Angeles Metro Area and Orange County, CA is $93,540.99 - $146,307.68. Actual compensation depends on qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as physical work location within the state.

The approximate pay range for the Greater Seattle, WA Metro Area is $93,540.99 - $146,307.68, with similar considerations for actual compensation.
