Job summary

BHC is seeking a Sr. CAD Survey Technician to join our Kansas City surveying team. You will develop plan sets and details in AutoCAD Civil 3D, create 3D surface models, and prepare staking data for field crews while coordinating with the Project Surveyor.

The role emphasizes accurate CAD work, GIS compatibility, and multi-project management in a primarily office-based setting with some field travel. A valid driver’s license and continued education are preferred.

Qualifications

• 3+ years survey CAD experience.
• Demonstrated interest in continuing education (e.g., CST).
• A valid driver's license must be maintained and insurable.
• Survey operations and survey equipment experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans and prepares CAD drawings using Civil 3D for topographic, ALTA/NSPS, boundary, and construction staking surveys.
• Understands advanced CAD principles: scaling, coordinate systems, plans, profiles, cross-sections, dimensioning, annotations, external references, block management, 3D modeling.
• Creates and interprets 3D surface models and contours.
• Prepares staking data for field crews from construction plan sets.
• Sets up file structures to manage CAD drawing production per BHC standards.
• Maintains digital and paper survey records.
• Communicates with Project Surveyor/Project Manager about CAD status.
• Interprets GIS data formats and exports CAD to GIS when needed.
• Manages multiple projects and priorities to meet deadlines.
• Overtime as needed (40 hours/week).
