Job summary

Insight Global seeks a Senior Mechanical CAD Lead in Santa Ana, CA to own the vehicle master model, top-level assembly structure, and CAD standards for a new maritime autonomous vehicle program.

You will administer the PDM system, release drawings to ASME Y14 standards with GD&T, perform tolerance stackups, and support engineering changes while coordinating with mechanical, structural, and systems teams.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of CAD design experience on hardware.
• Expert proficiency in a major CAD package.
• Experience owning assembly structure and master model organization.
• Drawing release experience with GD&T to ASME Y14.5.
• Hands-on PDM/PLM with workflows and revision control.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Own the vehicle master model and top-level assembly structure.
• Define CAD standards, modeling conventions, and assembly architecture for the program.
• Administer the PDM environment: workflows, release states, permissions, and revision control.
• Produce and release detailed drawings to ASME Y14 standards, including GD&T.
• Perform tolerance stackups supporting design and interface decisions.
• Manage large assembly performance and model health as the vehicle grows.
• Support engineering change and configuration management processes.
• Partner with mechanical, structural, and systems engineers on design execution.
• Support manufacturing and supply chain with released technical data packages.
• Train and support the team on CAD and PDM practice.
• Travel up to 15% to supplier and manufacturing facilities.
