Job summary

Microchip Technology Inc. is seeking a Principal CAD Engineer to lead advanced CAD/EDA efforts for semiconductor design automation.

You will define architectures, collaborate with design, verification, IT, and infrastructure teams, and drive productivity improvements across engineering environments. Ideal candidates have 10+ years in CAD/EDA and design automation, with strong scripting and cross-functional communication.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10+ years of experience in CAD/EDA, design automation, or related fields.
• Experience with semiconductor design flows and software or scripting is required.
• Strong analytical thinking and cross-functional collaboration are essential.

Responsibilities

• Define CAD/EDA architectures, methodologies, flows, and tooling.
• Translate complex needs into scalable technical direction.
• Guide semiconductor, analog, digital, RF, PCB, ASIC, FPGA, SoC approaches.
• Integrate performance, capacity, reliability, security and risk analyses.
• Direct technical investigations, validation strategies, and release reviews.
• Drive reusable methodology, automation, observability, standardization, and productivity.
• Influence cross-functional roadmaps and coordinate deliverables.
• Provide broad technical guidance without people-management authority.
