Job summary

Travis® Body & Trailer, Inc. in NW Houston is seeking a Senior Drafter to create, maintain, and revise detailed engineering drawings, 3D models, BOMs, and technical documentation for trailer and truck body products.

This role uses CAD and DriveWorks to support custom and standard configurations, collaborating with Production, Purchasing, and Quality to ensure manufacturability and alignment with customer requirements.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 15+ years of progressive drafting and design in manufacturing.
• 10+ years of advanced AutoCAD/SolidWorks drafting in manufacturing.
• 5+ years of advanced DriveWorks experience supporting manufacturing operations.
• Experience in trailer/truck body or heavy manufacturing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain detailed engineering drawings, layouts, and specifications for new and existing products.
• Develop accurate bills of materials (BOMs) for engineering and manufacturing standards.
• Design custom trailer and body configurations using CAD systems based on customer requirements.
• Use DriveWorks automation to configure, generate, and manage designs, drawings, and BOMs.
• Apply engineering principles to ensure designs meet strength, safety, manufacturability, and quality requirements.
• Process engineering change requests (ECRs), revisions, and product updates with production and quality teams.
• Support full product lifecycle from concept through production and post-release support.
• Assist root cause analysis and corrective actions related to design issues.
• Collaborate with production, purchasing, and quality to resolve design/manufacturing challenges.
• Provide technical support to manufacturing to improve fit, form, and function of products.
• Incorporate lean manufacturing and design-for-manufacturability into designs.
• Provide technical assistance to sales and customer service for quoting and order clarification.
• Maintain part numbers, BOMs, and item data in ERP; develop DriveWorks projects and forms.
