Job description

At NXG Truck Bodies, we build the next generation of truck equipment. Based in Mount Pleasant, Texas, we design and manufacture durable, work‑ready truck bodies built to perform in demanding real‑world conditions. With a focus on innovation, craftsmanship, and customer service, NXG is committed to delivering smarter solutions for hardworking customers across a wide range of industries.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Drafting Engineer to support the design and development of truck equipment and related systems. This role is ideal for someone who is strong in SolidWorks and enjoys seeing their designs move beyond the screen and into real‑world builds. You will work across both office and shop environments and collaborate with sales, production, and installation teams to develop accurate and manufacturable designs. We are looking for someone who doesn’t just model parts, but understands how they’re built, assembled, and used. If you can look at a design and mentally walk it through the shop floor before it’s ever cut, you’ll fit right in.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Develop and manage configurations within SolidWorks to support product variations.
  • Generate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) with a high level of accuracy.
  • Support product development from concept through production release.
  • Work closely with shop personnel to ensure designs translate effectively to fabrication and assembly.
  • Assist with troubleshooting design or fitment issues during production and installation.
  • Contribute to wiring layouts and basic electrical integration for truck equipment.
  • Utilize ERP systems to manage part data, revisions, and production workflows.
Qualifications
  • Required: Experience using SolidWorks for 3D modeling, assemblies, and drawings.
  • Required: Ability to create accurate, production‑ready drawings and BOMs.
  • Required: Hands‑on mindset with willingness to spend time in a shop environment.
  • Required: Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
  • Preferred: Experience using SolidWorks configurations.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with truck equipment, upfitting, or similar industries.
  • Preferred: Basic knowledge of truck electrical systems, wiring, and components.
  • Preferred: Experience working with ERP systems.
  • Preferred: Understanding of manufacturing processes including welding, forming, and assembly.
