Job summary

SAIC in Crane, IN seeks an experienced CAD Drafter to support NSWC Crane Code WXR. The role focuses on drafting and CAD operations across mechanical and electrical components, employing AutoCAD, Solid Edge, SolidWorks, and CREO to design, develop, and improve parts and assemblies.

The successful candidate will lead drafting staff, coordinate with engineers, and produce detailed drawings, layouts, and specifications in accordance with ASME and MIL standards, while pursuing continuous improvement

Qualifications

• An associate's degree in engineering technology, Drafting, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 10 years of technical experience in engineering support, drafting, CAD operations or related field.
• Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Solid Edge, SolidWorks, CREO and WindChill PDMS.
• Strong understanding of engineering principles in mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
• Experience drafting and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and layouts.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain/maintain secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and construct major units or equipment using advanced CAD tools (AutoCAD, Solid Edge, SolidWorks, CREO).
• Generate detailed drawings, layouts, schematics, and BOMs per guidelines, GD&T, and MIL/Industrial specs.
• Lead drafting staff, supervise work, and ensure quality and accuracy.
• Review others' work for technical adequacy and alignment with project requirements.
• Coordinate across related activities to resolve challenges and ensure project success.
