American Electric Power is seeking a Designer to perform CAD drafting and map preparation with supervision. You will create and update engineering drawings, manage related documents, and gather information from field notes and sketches to support project delivery.

Qualifications include an AAS in drafting/CAD or equivalent experience, 1–2 years in utility drafting, and willingness to overtime and travel as needed. Strong CAD and Office skills are essential.

Qualificações

• Associate degree in AAS drafting/CAD or engineering tech or related experience.
• 1–2 years electric utility drafting experience or 6+ years without AAS.
• Able to work overtime and travel >10% as required.
• Familiar with drafting symbols and color distinction.

Responsabilidades

• Create, revise and maintain engineering drawings and sketches.
• Maintain facilities and equipment documents and records.
• Obtain needed information from diagrams, notes, and field visits.
• Perform mathematical calculations for assigned work.
• Proficient with CAD software and Microsoft Office.
• Coordinate with other teams to ensure safe, efficient work.
• Read vendor prints and operating instructions and apply details.
• Assist in training AEP employees in basic skills.
• Support safety, health, and compliance programs.
• Take on additional duties as assigned.
