Job summary

AEP seeks a Designer to perform daily CAD drafting tasks, creating and revising engineering drawings, maps, sketches and related records. You will gather information from various sources, perform calculations, and ensure documentation aligns with AEP standards.

The role supports engineering teams and requires collaboration to maintain safety and efficiency. The position emphasizes training peers, adherence to safety programs, and willingness to work overtime or shifts as needed, with travel

Qualifications

• Associate degree in applied science (AAS) drafting and CAD or in civil, electrical or mechanical engineering technology, or relevant equivalent experience/education.
• One to two years of work designer experience or six years with high school diploma in electric utility/related drafting/CAD work.
• Must be available for overtime, call-out overtime and shift work; travel >10% expected.

Responsibilities

• Create, revise and maintain engineering and record drawings and sketches.
• Support creation, revision and maintenance of facilities and equipment documents and records.
• Gather information from verbal briefings, sketches, listings, field notes, catalogs and site visits.
• Perform mathematical calculations required for assigned work.
• Proficient in CAD software and Microsoft Office.
• Coordinate with other Company organizations to ensure safe, efficient work execution.
