Job summary

Matrix PDM Engineering in Tulsa, OK seeks a Sr. Designer/Checker to produce design layouts and finished drawings for civil/structural projects.

The role involves handling custom jobs, field survey support, and checking drawings for accuracy, with potential to lead design discipline on select projects. Ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s in engineering, 4+ years of civil design experience, and advanced AutoCAD Civil 3D skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline with a focus in civil/structural design preferred, or equivalent combination of education/experience in lieu of degree.
• 4+ years of related civil design and layout experience required.
• Advanced AutoCAD Civil 3D knowledge required.
• Strong understanding of drafting techniques.
• Ability to understand and use general math and trigonometry functions.
• General knowledge and understanding of Civil codes and standards required for different types of work.
• Experienced in industrial site development, storm drainage collection and retention/detention systems, potable water distribution systems, sanitary collection and pumping systems, geometric road layout, permitting, site grading, and earthwork.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness in work.
• Demonstrates strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously under time sensitive deadlines.
• Exhibits excellent listening, oral and written skills.
• Occasional overtime may be required.

• Assists Engineering Supervisor in determining how to meet job requirements, coordinating jobs and conducting training.
• Assists Drafters with questions/issues during project work.
• Cooperates with other team members; communicates professionally.
• Performs basic and complex layouts.
• Produces new drawings as well as checks drawings for accuracy and completeness.
• Performs conversions between state plane coordinates and plant coordinates.
• Pick-up red marks from check prints and correct drawings as required.
• Performs dimensional and bill of materials checks of drawings.
• Checks entire job for interferences and constructability.
• Performs additional responsibilities as directed.
