Job description

RRC is seeking a talented Senior Civil 3D CAD Designer to help us build the future of U.S. energy production from our Round Rock, TX office. RRC is a multi-disciplinary engineering firm specializing in energy projects, particularly renewable energy, across the United States. The Role

RRC offers a full-time position for an experienced Senior Civil 3D CAD Designer at its Round Rock, Texas office. Candidates should have experience in civil design, including public and private roadway, drainage, and grading for wind, solar, utility, and civil infrastructure projects. Applications must be complete for consideration.

Main Responsibilities
  • Transform conceptual designs into detailed, high-quality working documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D and GIS tools.
  • Develop preliminary layouts and detailed final designs, ensuring integration with engineering notes, sketches, survey maps, shapefiles, topographic and planimetric data, and Vehicle Tracking.
  • Lead the preparation and execution of civil construction plans for wind and solar energy projects, including site layouts, roadway alignments, profiles, drainage, grading, erosion control, and specifications.
  • Review drawings and deliverables for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
  • Coordinate with project management and engineering teams to align efforts and drive project milestones.
  • Implement and maintain document control systems for revisions and project information.
  • Manage multiple projects, adapting quickly to changing needs and timelines.
  • Foster a collaborative environment, mentoring junior staff.
  • Utilize advanced Civil 3D features such as surface and corridor creation, pipe networks, grading tools, and Sheet Set Manager.
  • Develop and follow advanced CAD standards to streamline processes.
  • Maintain strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Communicate technical information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
Ideal Profile
Education/Experience
  • 5-7 years of high-level experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D and GIS, leading complex civil projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Drafting/Design, or related field; civil engineering preferred. Equivalent experience may suffice.
  • Deep knowledge of Civil 3D project organization, standards, and GIS tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in Renewable Energy and/or Oil and Gas is a plus.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license.
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple complex tasks concurrently.
