Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Senior CAD Application Engineer to develop tools and workflows that drive NX-based design and analysis for high-performance systems. You will convert parametric models for use by engineering teams and control systems, and build automation to interface with NX data from Python.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years in mechanical/electro-mechanical design, deep NX/Teamcenter experience, and strong programming skills (Python, NXOpen, Linux, Git).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or STEM field required.
• 10+ years of industry experience.
• 5+ years as a design engineer of mechanical, electro-mechanical or thermal-mechanical systems.
• Proven ability to extract key data using software automations for NX and TC.
• 10+ years of experience with Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
• Experience with GD&T per ASME Y14.100 and ASME Y14.5.
• Self-motivated with strong problem-solving ability.
• Proficient in Python, NXOpen API, Linux, Git and Computational Geometry.

Responsibilities

• Deliver complete mechanical designs including tolerance stacks and coordinate CTE/Structural analysis.
• Develop CAD design and software workflows converting NX geometry into engineering-ready formats.
• Create software automation tools to interact with NX data from Python.
• Integrate NX model parameters, coordinate systems, and geometry in existing scientific tooling.
• Use NXOpen API to enable coordinate transformations and single source of truth access.
• Ensure CAD designs comply with industry and internal CAD standards.
• Be part of a matrix CAD team reporting to a CAD Team Leader/Manager.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of scientists and engineers.
