Sand Cherry Associates seeks an experienced Cable Headend & Video Distribution SME to lead engineering and operations teams. You will own deep domain knowledge of the end-to-end video signal path from satellite reception to IP-based distribution.

Ideal candidate has a strong background in satellite reception, RF/L-band distribution, IRDs, QAM and video processing within large cable operators or similar environments. ET business hours apply; US-based candidates only.

Qualifications

10+ years of experience in cable video engineering, video distribution, headend operations, or related field.
Significant hands-on experience with video distribution within cable headend environments.
End-to-end knowledge of the cable video signal path: reception, processing, routing, monitoring & distribution.
Satellite reception, antenna systems, RF/L-band distribution, IRDs, video processing, QAM and IP-based video distribution.
Experience with or in major cable operators or large-scale video distribution organizations preferred.
Experience supporting regional and independent cable operators highly desirable.
Experience supporting video-related technical transitions, upgrades, infrastructure changes, or migrations in live production.
Understanding of video redundancy, service continuity, troubleshooting, testing and change management in headends.
Understanding infrastructure, staffing, capabilities and practices across cable operators of varying sizes.
Ability to evaluate technical designs and translate them into actionable operational plans.
Strong troubleshooting and risk/dependency identification skills.
General broadband, DOCSIS, HFC or IP networking alone is not sufficient without cable video/headend experience.

Responsabilités

Serve as a senior Cable Operations and Video Distribution SME to engineering and operations teams.
Provide deep SME guidance on the end-to-end video signal path, including RF, IRD, QAM and IP video.
Review and challenge technical solutions and operational plans from a senior cable video operator perspective.
Offer insight into headend capabilities, operator expectations, and regional/international operator needs.
Assess activities cable operators can perform independently vs. needing additional support.
Evaluate downstream implications of infrastructure or signal-delivery changes on video processing and distribution.
Identify operational risks, site constraints and implementation challenges early.
Define appropriate levels of operator support, field services, docs, testing and troubleshooting.
Review technical docs, signal-flow diagrams, test plans and field plans for practicality.
Participate in working sessions to pressure-test approaches and propose practical alternatives.
Translate technical findings into clear recommendations for engineering, operations and leadership.
Support continuity from planning through implementation with technical context and issue resolution.
