We are seeking a hands-on Satellite Communications Engineer to support live production satellite and teleport networks. The ideal candidate will be directly involved in maintaining and operating large-scale antenna systems and RF infrastructure in a real-time environment.
This role is ideal for professionals with experience in satellite communications, RF systems, or large-scale network operations, including candidates from military or telecom backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, monitor, test, and maintain earth station telecommunications equipment
- Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting using test and measurement tools
- Support RF, IF, and baseband technologies across satellite networks
- Monitor network performance and respond to alerts, anomalies, and escalations
- Maintain service levels and execute restoration procedures during outages
- Support installation and configuration of:
- Amplifiers, modems, routers, switches, multiplexers
- Coordinate testing and service turn-ups with internal and external stakeholders
- Monitor vendor activities and remote teleport operations
- Document procedures, issues, and resolutions accurately
- Work independently during assigned shifts with minimal supervision
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years of relevant experience
- 3+ years of experience in:
- Satellite Network Communications
- IP Networking Technologies
- Experience with troubleshooting and maintaining live network environments
- Willingness to work 24/7 rotational shifts (including nights, weekends, and on-call)
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
- RF systems including BUCs, BDCs, HPAs, SSPAs
- Frequency bands such as Ku and C band
- Knowledge of satellite theory and large-scale antenna systems
- Cisco Certifications (CCNA/CCNP) or equivalent
- Background in military, telecom, or satellite service providers
- Strong ownership mindset, communication skills, and ability to handle escalations
- Fully onsite role in Andover, ME
- 24/7 operational support environment
- Typical schedule: 4x10-hour shifts (day, swing, or mid-shift after training)
- Requires flexibility for rotational and on-call coverage
