Job summary

RTX, the world-leading aerospace and defense company, seeks a senior flammability certification engineer for the MAU team to certify modifications to in-service aircraft interiors, including seating and furniture. You will lead testing, analysis, and design reviews to demonstrate compliance with applicable FAA rules.

The role requires coordinating with engineering, certification, and program management in a fast-paced, onsite environment in Winston-Salem, NC, delivering compliant documentation

Qualifications

  • Degree in STEM or advanced related field with minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aeronautical, civil, chemical or related engineering per FAA requirements.
  • U.S. citizenship required to access information.
  • 3–5 years of experience in certification/testing and aircraft cabin interiors.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and coordinate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Conduct testing, analysis, and reviews to show compliance with 14 CFR 25.853/25.869 and related requirements.
  • Generate and check compliance plans and documents for TSO, PMA, and STC approvals as an ODA unit member.
  • Participate in training to grow talent and process development.
  • Review proposed projects for feasibility, cost, and lead-time.
  • Collaborate across the organization to advance the team values and vision.
