Job summary

Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build the simulation layer of the SIE platform. You will design and implement C++ services to share a common world across simulators, manage time, entities, and ownership, and enable reliable, end-to-end runs.

You will lead architecture decisions, write design docs, and mentor a developing team while partnering with internal teams and customers to ensure successful integration and practical results.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Deep, current production experience in modern C++ (C++17 or newer).
• Experience building networked, concurrent, or real-time systems in C++.
• Strong systems fundamentals: memory layout, cache effects, sockets/UDP/TCP, serialization, Linux.
• Ability to profile and optimize a real system with measurable latency/throughput.
• Experience owning an ambiguous, cross-cutting project end-to-end and delivering to production.
• Experience collaborating with engineering teams to unblock and iterate.
• Proficiency in at least one other language (Go/TypeScript) alongside C++.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to write design docs.
• CS degree or equivalent experience.
• Eligible for a U.S. Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design and build C++ services that federate simulators into a single world.
• Own the wire layer: encoding, transport, and interoperability.
• Make simulation runs deterministic with time control, replay, and instrumentation.
• Develop scenario authoring tooling and environment catalogs.
• Improve performance: profile hot paths, optimize allocations, manage latency under load.
• Collaborate with Go services, gRPC APIs, and the web UI.
• Set technical direction and mentor the growing team.
• Onboard business lines and ensure integration with simulators.
