Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Kansas City to modernize our software architecture. You will design, develop, and maintain components that support business applications and transform our technology. Lead day-to-day technical tasks, developer support, and maintaining the development environment.

You will mentor peers, perform design reviews, and help shape strategic product direction. Strong experience with Azure, C#, Angular, HTML/JS, and MS SQL is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building web-based applications using Microsoft technology stack.
• 3 years of developing applications with Microsoft Azure cloud.
• 3 years developing web-based interfaces using HTML/JavaScript.
• 3 years developing MS SQL based applications and C#.
• Experience with Angular.
• Knowledge in building environments using TFE.
• Experience with Scrum methodology.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Experience with Azure DevOps or GitHub for Source control, boards, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop new product features and maintain existing functionality using Microsoft technologies.
• Create and execute unit tests and address defects.
• Collaborate with QA, UX, and other teams to align requirements and approach.
• Assist in planning and implementing a strategic product direction.
• Identify design features to improve scalability, usability, and performance.
• Lead design reviews and code reviews for enhancements.
• Translate complex requirements into technical specs and product requirements.
• Mentor teammates on best practices and latest technologies.
