Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and integration of distributed C++ systems on Linux for Navy platforms. You will stay hands-on with coding while guiding technical direction across the full stack, including deployment and lab integration.

Requirements include a DoD Secret clearance, 8+ years of experience, and strong C++11+ skills on Linux. The role emphasizes leadership, architecture, and modernizing legacy apps toward a Kubernetes-based platform.

Qualifications

Active DoD Secret clearance at time of hire.
Bachelor's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
8+ years of progressively responsible software development experience.
Technical lead experience on a complex software product or integration effort.
Advanced modern C++ (C++11+), including multithreading and performance tuning.
Strong Linux experience, ideally RHEL or derivative.
Designing and troubleshooting distributed, event-driven systems.
Practical gRPC, Protocol Buffers, and networking fundamentals.
CI/CD with Git-based configuration management.
Translating system requirements into maintainable designs.

Responsibilities

Set technical direction for complex C++ software systems for submarine combat systems.
Lead design decisions across application, middleware, and deployment layers.
Oversee integration and fielding, mentor engineers.
Own unit, integration, and system-level test strategy.
Conduct code and design reviews and brief leadership on risks and status.
