Role overview

A senior backend engineering role focused on architecting highly performant, scalable services within a growing financial technology company. The position combines hands-on coding with strong influence over technical direction, collaborating cross-functionally in Agile two-week sprints alongside senior leadership. The successful hire will also help drive the adoption of artificial intelligence capabilities across the product surface.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable backend systems grounded in modern engineering practice and clean architecture
• Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams to deliver software reliably on a sprint-by-sprint basis
• Help introduce and champion AI capabilities, such as chatbots and AI-assisted process improvements
• Act as an internal advocate for engineering best practice, code quality and continuous improvement
• Partner with engineering leadership to shape technical strategy and influence product direction

Requirements

• Substantial commercial experience as a software developer with strong grasp of modern best practice
• Deep C# backend development skills, ideally complemented by working knowledge of Python
• Solid hands‑on experience with AWS cloud services
• Track record of designing and operating highly scalable production systems
• Strong computer science fundamentals, including object‑oriented design, data structures and design patterns
• Demonstrable interest in artificial intelligence, including familiarity with tools such as ChatGPT
• Strong analytical ability, organisational skills and stakeholder communication
