Job summary

Polymarket is seeking a core C/C++ engineer to help build and scale our exchange infrastructure. This role focuses on low-latency, high-throughput components at the heart of Polymarket’s trading engine.

You will work with senior engineers to design, implement, and optimize systems that must be correct, fast, and resilient under real-world load. Strong problem-solving and end-to-end skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional C/C++ experience with low-level optimization.
• Experience with low-latency, high-throughput systems in production.
• Strong problem-solving and end-to-end systems capability.
• (Plus) Finance, trading, or exchange infra background.
• (Plus) Multithreading and lock-free programming familiarity.
• (Plus) Kafka or similar distributed messaging experience.

Responsibilities

• Build the exchange core: Design and implement low-latency, high-throughput components of Polymarket’s trading and matching infrastructure using C/C++.
• Optimize for speed & scale: Profile, tune, and debug performance-critical systems with a focus on latency and determinism.
• Design robust systems: Develop efficient algorithms and data structures; build scalable messaging and event-driven systems (e.g., Kafka).
• Own reliability & correctness: Improve security, availability, performance, and scalability of core exchange systems through testing and careful design.
• Collaborate deeply: Work with product, infra, and data teams to integrate the exchange with the platform.
• Contribute to engineering excellence: Participate in design reviews and code reviews to maintain high quality.
