Job summary

Polymarket is seeking a backend engineer to help build and scale the core exchange infrastructure. This role focuses on high-performance, low-latency backend systems that must be correct, fast, and resilient under real-world trading load.

Youll be a core contributor working with senior engineers to design, implement, and optimize the systems at the heart of Polymarketxhange, with a strong bias toward execution and ownership.

Qualifications

• 4–7+ years of backend development experience with systems languages.
• Strong knowledge of C/C++ and proficiency in Go, Rust, or Java.
• Experience building low-latency, high-throughput systems in Linux.
• Familiarity with distributed systems and event-driven data pipelines.
• Production exposure to streaming platforms and modern cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Build the exchange backend with scalable, low-latency services.
• Optimize latency, throughput, and memory usage in production.
• Design distributed systems with robust APIs and data pipelines.
• Own reliability, security, and operations across backend systems.
• Collaborate with product, infra, and data teams for integration.
• Participate in code reviews and architectural decisions.
