Job summary

Ensono is seeking a highly skilled C++ Software Engineer to join a remote role in the United States. You will design, develop, and maintain high-performance C++ systems, taking ownership of critical components, and guiding architectural decisions.

You will mentor peers, lead code reviews, and uphold best practices across the software lifecycle while working in a Linux-based environment with CI/CD pipelines and automation scripts in Python and shell.

Qualifications

• Expert understanding of dynamic memory allocation, RAII, smart pointers (unique_ptr, shared_ptr, weak_ptr)
• Experience diagnosing memory leaks, dangling pointers, buffers and overflows
• Familiarity with custom allocators and memory pool strategies
• Strong command of the C++ threading model (std::thread, std::mutex, std::atomic, std::condition_variable)
• Experience with lock-free and wait-free programming patterns
• Identify and resolve race conditions and deadlocks
• Expert-level experience with CMake for cross-platform build configuration
• Proficiency with Docker for containerised development and deployment environments
• Hands-on experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions)
• Advanced use of GDB for low-level debugging and post-mortem analysis
• Proficiency with Valgrind (Memcheck, Helgrind, Callgrind) for memory and thread analysis
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related discipline
• Equivalent industry experience will be considered
• Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills; strong communication and interpersonal skills; independent worker and team player

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and maintain complex high-performance C++ applications
• Own critical system components focusing on reliability, scalability, and performance
• Design and implement solutions with advanced memory management and concurrent architecture
• Lead code reviews and enforce coding standards across the team
• Define and maintain CMake-based build systems and multi-platform configurations
• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines and Docker-based workflows
• Diagnose complex issues using GDB and Valgrind; drive profiling and tuning
• Collaborate with Linux-based development in cross-functional teams
• Contribute automation scripts using Python and shell scripting
• Interact with relational data sources using SQL as needed
• Manage source control, branching strategies, and release workflows with Git
• Mentor junior engineers and drive technical growth across the team
• Participate in system design discussions, planning, and estimation
