Job summary

Conax Technologies in Buffalo, NY is seeking a Senior Buyer to support direct and indirect material sourcing in a manufacturing environment, ensuring on-time delivery to production and customer requirements.

The ideal candidate will manage supplier relationships, negotiate terms, monitor performance, and collaborate with Planning, Engineering, Quality, and Finance to drive cost savings and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Manufacturing, or related field.
• 2–5 years of purchasing/procurement/materials management/supply chain experience, manufacturing preferred.
• Experience using ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, work cross-functionally, and influence without direct authority.
• Bachelor’s degree, supplier performance management experience, Lean/continuous improvement or regulated manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage purchasing activities for assigned suppliers, materials, and services to support production schedules.
• Review material requirements, issue purchase orders, track open orders, and expedite deliveries.
• Negotiate pricing, lead times, payment terms, freight, MOQs, and other commercial terms.
• Monitor supplier performance related to quality, delivery, responsiveness, cost, and service.
• Identify material shortages, supply risks, cost concerns, and supplier issues before they impact operations.
• Collaborate with Planning, Operations, Engineering, Quality, Finance, and other internal teams to resolve purchasing and supplier-related issues.
• Analyze purchasing data, supplier performance, inventory levels, and cost trends to support continuous improvement and cost-savings initiatives.
