Job summary

Axcelis Technologies in Beverly, MA (Hybrid) is seeking a Senior Buyer to own end-to-end procurement for complex, high-value commodities. You’ll work with domestic and international suppliers to drive cost, delivery, and performance for high-tech manufacturing operations.

You will analyze requisitions, generate RFQs, manage POs, and maintain supplier data within ERP systems while pursuing cost reductions and strategic sourcing opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as an individual contributor in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management.
• Experience managing suppliers, negotiating contracts, and supporting manufacturing environments.
• Global sourcing experience and commodity expertise preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze purchase requisitions; generate RFQs and execute purchase orders for assigned suppliers.
• Manage purchase order delivery schedules to support manufacturing and operational plans.
• Maintain accuracy and integrity of procurement and supplier data within ERP and supply chain management systems.
• Monitor cost, schedule, and scope for assigned parts and suppliers to ensure optimal value and quality.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and agreements; manage purchase price variance (PPV) against standard cost.
• Identify and deliver cost reduction opportunities, including volume planning, tariff mitigation, and total cost analysis.
• Identify new supply sources when existing suppliers are no longer competitive or meet performance requirements.
• Evaluate and recommend cost-saving initiatives such as alternative sourcing and make‑versus‑buy decisions.
• Partner with Quality to resolve supplier quality and performance issues.
• Collaborate with management on commodity strategies, including business plans, market trend analysis, pricing strategies, and supplier availability.
• Maintain domestic and/or global commodity expertise; support supplier visits and sourcing activities as required.
• Travel domestically and internationally to meet with suppliers and potential new suppliers will be required.
