Job summary

Orionplacement is seeking an experienced Buyer/Procurement Manager in Beverly, MA for strategic purchasing of electro-mechanical products. You will influence cost, quality, and delivery by managing key suppliers and collaborating across engineering, operations, and quality teams.

The role requires a BSBA and 5+ years manufacturing purchasing experience, plus ERP/MRP proficiency. Hybrid work with on-site collaboration and some remote flexibility is included. Relocation encouragement noted.

Qualifications

  • BSBA and 5+ years of manufacturing experience with purchasing/sourcing responsibilities.
  • Experience with MRP or ERP systems (MRP/ERP) is important.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical and supplier-management skills.
  • Experience driving cost savings and process improvements.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • International sourcing or logistics experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute purchasing strategies for electro-mechanical products, components, and materials.
  • Manage supplier performance across quality, delivery, pricing, lead times, and corrective actions.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and purchasing agreements to improve total landed cost.
  • Maintain accurate purchase orders, quantities, delivery dates, and supplier commitments.
  • Identify shortages and work with suppliers and internal teams to protect production schedules.
  • Source and qualify alternative suppliers to reduce risk and strengthen supply continuity.
  • Analyze MRP and ERP requirements to support purchasing and inventory decisions.
  • Partner with engineering, quality, operations, and planning teams to resolve supplier issues.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to purchasing, cost reduction, inventory, and supplier performance.
  • Maintain purchasing practices that support AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality requirements.
  • Work with domestic and international suppliers and support travel when needed.

Location

  • Experience driving cost savings and process improvements
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO 9001 preferred
  • International sourcing or logistics experience preferred
  • CPM or CPIM certification preferred
  • Microsoft Dynamics AX experience helpful
