Job summary

ScottsMiracle-Gro is seeking a Senior Buyer, Capital Procurement to source across Engineering, construction, and capital budgets with a $130 million scope. You will drive supplier negotiations, contract management, and cost-saving initiatives while partnering with executives to align procurement strategy.

This role requires 4–7 years of procurement experience, strong financial analysis skills, and the ability to work independently.

Qualifications

• BS or BA in Purchasing, Engineering or other business-related field.
• 4–7 years of procurement experience with complex contract negotiation.
• Expertise in financial analysis, cost model development, and project management.
• Strong executive presence with ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Proven experience with SAP, Ariba, Google Workspace and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Develop category strategies, secure customer alignment, and execute.
• Lead sourcing projects through market analysis, the RFX process, negotiations, contract creation and management.
• Partner with internal stakeholders, delivering proactive, solution-oriented procurement support.
• Drive cost-saving initiatives to align with company goals.
• Analyze industry and economic factors and perform financial analyses for opportunities and risk mitigation.
• Identify and pursue new savings/value-add opportunities; determine total cost of ownership.
• Adhere to budgetary constraints and evaluate supplier capabilities, costs, risks, and partnerships.
• Travel to jobsites up to 25%.
