Job summary

Scotts Miracle-Gro is seeking a Senior Buyer, Capital Procurement to source across Engineering, construction, and capital budgets with a $130 million scope. You will drive projects at executive levels, develop category strategies, and lead negotiations and contract management.

You will partner with stakeholders, drive cost-saving initiatives, and manage total cost of ownership while traveling up to 25% to sites as needed. The role combines strategic influence with hands-on procurement leadership.

Qualifications

• BS or BA in Purchasing, Engineering, or other business-related fields.
• 4–7 years of procurement experience with complex contract negotiation and lifecycle management.
• Expertise in financial analysis, cost model development, and project management.
• Strong executive presence with the ability to influence and communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
• Proven record of implementing new procurement concepts and driving change.
• Strong computer skills (SAP, Ariba, Google Workspace, MS Office).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Inquisitive, proactive, and able to understand project details and ask insightful questions.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize in a high-pace, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop category strategies, secure alignment, and execute.
