Curries (an ASSA ABLOY company) is growing! We are adding a Senior Buyer to our team located in Mason City, Iowa. This is an onsite role that will report to the Supply Chain Manager.

Come see who we are at: https://www.assaabloy.com/group/en/about-us

What would you do as our Senior Buyer?

You will lead complex, high-value, and business-critical procurement activities while developing sourcing and supplier strategies that support cost, quality, service, inventory, and risk objectives. You will serve as a procurement subject matter expert, helping establish best practices, improve processes, guide cross-functional decisions, and coach other members of the buying team. This is an opportunity to influence procurement strategy, strengthen supplier performance, and create measurable value across the organization.

You would also:
  • Develop category and supplier strategies aligned with cost, quality, service, inventory, risk, and broader business objectives.
  • Lead complex RFQs, supplier selections, negotiations, transitions, and contracting activities.
  • Manage high-value, business-critical, or multi-category spend portfolios.
  • Drive cost-reduction programs and maintain a qualified pipeline of savings opportunities.
  • Build advanced benchmarks, should-cost analyses, market-index approaches, and supplier cost models.
  • Identify value opportunities involving material alternatives, specification improvements, supplier rationalization, logistics, working capital, and process redesign.
  • Lead supplier business reviews, performance scorecards, corrective actions, risk discussions, and joint improvement priorities.
  • Manage strategic supplier relationships and resolve complex commercial, capacity, quality, delivery, or supply-continuity concerns.
  • Establish contingency and risk-mitigation plans for critical suppliers and materials.
  • Design replenishment and inventory strategies that balance service, lead time, risk, and working-capital considerations.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve systemic inventory, forecasting, transaction, and material-availability issues.
  • Improve procurement processes, controls, dashboards, reporting, standard work, and audit readiness.
  • Champion the practical use of ERP capabilities, analytics, automation, AI, and emerging technologies to reduce non-value-added work.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using root cause analysis and measurable outcome tracking.
  • Coach Buyer I and Buyer II team members through onboarding, knowledge sharing, technical guidance, and competency development.
  • Promote a safe and respectful work environment by following safety requirements, company standards, and the ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct.
The Skills and Experience you need:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or a related field preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Five or more years of progressive experience in procurement, supply chain, manufacturing, operations, or a related function preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex sourcing, negotiations, supplier-performance, cost-reduction, risk-mitigation, and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Advanced knowledge of strategic sourcing, cost analysis, supplier management, materials planning, inventory, and supply risk.
  • Advanced experience working with ERP or MRP systems, analytical tools, and manufacturing supply chains preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills, including spend analysis, market benchmarking, should-cost thinking, and business-case development.
  • Ability to lead complex negotiations and influence senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong business judgment with the ability to manage ambiguity, risk, competing priorities, and high-impact decisions.
  • Ability to translate complex information into clear, concise recommendations.
  • Experience improving processes, establishing standards, and leading change.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach others and transfer procurement knowledge effectively.
  • APICS, CPM, CPSM, or related professional certification is beneficial.
