Position Summary
The Senior Buyer is responsible for managing the procurement of assigned categories and/or sourcing regions, focusing on ensuring efficient and cost-effective operations. This role involves developing and maintaining supplier relationships, negotiating prices and ensuring timely delivery of products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage inventory levels and purchasing for assigned categories and sourcing regions.
- Maintain and update master price lists from suppliers in the shared drive.
- Issue purchase orders and follow up with suppliers on order confirmations, lead times, backorders, and tracking information.
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity in procurement systems.
- Perform regular reviews of vessel receipt dates and update dray reporting.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure long-term partnerships.
- Negotiate prices for high-volume items and ensure competitive pricing.
- Oversee supplier performance evaluations through annual scorecards
- Track and report on Purchase Price Variance (PPV) to support purchasing decisions.
- Implement cost analyses and set inventory benchmarks
- Provide support for Procurement Specialist with Vessel Receipt and Ship Document Tracking
- Maintain and update sales forecast logs and item notes in P21 system.
- Provide the required specifications from suppliers to the sales team for quoting.
- Manage RFID shipments and incoming receipts.
- Track and Audit Ocean Freight Invoice Packets, investigate any discrepancies, and provide payment approval
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools (e.g., ERP systems like SAP, Oracle).
- Strong knowledge of data analysis tools (e.g., Excel).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure data accuracy and compliance.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable terms and pricing.
- Ability to analyze procurement data and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Strong problem-solving skills to address issues related to supply chain disruptions and supplier performance.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and sales.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
