Summary Description
This position includes the research, evaluation, and purchase of products/materials necessary to manufacture saleable products. The Senior Buyer obtains and reviews suppliers’ quotes and service information, places purchase orders, executes on expedites, manages returns, and ensures PO terms are met. This individual will assume accountability for excess and obsolete inventory and work to mitigate risk. This person works in support of line operations, project execution and collaborates with other departments to ensure we delight our customers while achieving KPI’s and related metrics.

What will your day look like?
- Place purchase orders for inventory as well as non-inventory items.
- Monitor PO changes, planned deliveries, and supply issues.
- Keep Ops and other inside customers informed of PO activity.
- File purchase orders and other Purchasing records.
- Maintain Planning Attributes
- Execute item/component transitions.
- Expedite shipments, this may include imports as well as domestic shipments.
- Monitor and Manage Inventory
- Identifies inventory team of counts needed to correct inventory discrepancies.
- Plan inventory levels to support production schedule and company targets, while reducing E&O risk.
- Drive Continuous Improvement by looking for ways to reduce on-hand inventory while fully supporting the production plan.
- Make sure that Special Executions are supported with inventory in a timely fashion.
- Monitor forecast and incorporate into Purchasing timetable.
- Coordinate outsourced supply with third party suppliers.
- Support New Product Introductions through timely purchase of materials and components.
- Communication
- Cross organizational lines to coordinate Purchasing and Inventory activities and share information.
- Cross organizational lines to inform the business of supply gaps.
- Contribute to planning and execution of Supplier monthly/quarterly meetings through deck preparation and presentation of data.
- Present inventory build plans for NPD projects within weekly NPD meetings.
Qualifications
What you bring to the table:
- BA or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of buying experience working in a manufacturing environment to include vendor selection and price negotiations.
- Experienced working with ERP system (preferably Oracle)
- Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel User
- APICS Certification a plus
- Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- You should be goal oriented, confident, outgoing, and able to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data to make timely decisions and recommendations.
- The ability to build meaningful partnerships across the organization.
- Expected to succeed within a competitive environment.
