Position: Senior Buyer - Electronics

The Opportunity: The Senior Buyer of Electronics will be responsible for a variety of merchandising functions including product selection, pricing, promotions, category development and strategy, cost negotiations, supplier management, and forecasting from a variety of suppliers and product categories.The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for market trends, strong negotiation skills, and a passion for technology. This role involves sourcing and managing assortments for our electronics and computer product lines to ensure we meet customer demand and achieve our business goals. This position will act as the Merchandising subject matter expert (SME) and work closely with many cross-functional teams and partners to help complete enterprise projects/initiatives.
What You Will Do:
Product Sourcing:
- Buying responsibility and financial accountability for product categories, mostly independent in day-to-day business management
- Develop product sourcing strategies across suppliers based on costs, inventory, supplier performance, and broader brand strategies
Business and Product Management:
- Create and maintain products in e-commerce platform, utilizes tools and resources for efficiency and compliance standards
- Build strong relationships with vendors, focusing on vendor management and development along with strategic negotiation of cost, program & inventory
- Foster strong relationships with manufacturers, focusing on securing allocations of high-demand products and leveraging brand assets and promotional opportunities
- Optimize product pricing subject to company objectives such as demand, market share, profit margin in partnership with the Pricing team
- Focus on assortment optimization for their products, categories, and evaluates new emerging trends
Collaboration:
- Collaborate with Marketing and e-Commerce teams to develop Category/Product promotions for marketing campaigns and to improve the full customer experience
- Participate in driving Company and Merchandising initiatives
- Act as liaison between Merchandising and other departments such as Supply Chain/Vendor Compliance, Finance/Accounting, and Customer Care with high emphasis on customer service
- Assist the Tech Vertical and broader Merchandising department by analyzing current processes and developing more streamlined and automated alternatives
The Experience You Will Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in a general area of studyOR 8+ years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
- 5+ years of Buying experience or relevant retail experience
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access) and reporting tools/analysis such as Tableau, Domo, Power BI
- Ability to travel as needed for trade shows and vendor/business meetings
- Demonstrated understanding of merchandising financials and the ability to manage profitability
- Proven Knowledge of planning, forecasting, and inventory management
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills
- Critical thinking and negotiation skills and competency in retail math and analytics
